A Tree Saved
At Dharampur, we have started a programmed for saving trees.
It is far easier and cheaper to save existing trees than to plant new trees.
Because of mountain slopes, and heavy rains,
At many places, the soil gets eroded and tree roots exposed.
If no action is taken, the trees on certain slopes fall-
every monsoon.
Hence we look out for such exposed trees.
Cover such trees with a “Chotra”
Built with stones.
This pile of stones prevents further erosion of soil
from under the roots of the tree.
The tree is saved.
Cost of one adult tree saved - Indian rupees - 300.
This is because stones & soil are free-
dug out from nearby mountains.
What we pay for is only the labour costs.
We have made an open offer to Vedchhi Pradesh Seva Samiti-
Tribal leaders.
Find out any tree that is exposed.
Inform Shri/Smt. Vyas.
On their consent, build a chotra & take labour costs from the
“Friends of Dharampur”.
